Programs and Resources

Hollister High School strives to provide meaningful support and services to students. The following programs and departments are available to all students, each providing the comprehensive staff support students need to reach their goals.

AVID Program

The mission of the AVID program is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID provides an elective class with a curriculum focusing on writing, college and careers, strategies for success, and critical reading. AVID students are expected to maintain a C or better in all their classes, as well as display good citizenship, to remain in the program.

Baler Education Foundation

The mission of the Baler Education Foundation is to provide resources through community partnerships and to support and enhance educational programs and opportunities in the San Benito High School District. Career Center / Scholarships

The Career Center provides students with information relating to college, scholarships, financial aid, military service, and job opportunities.

English Learner Program

English Learners at San Benito High School are placed appropriately in English Language Arts and English Language Development (ELD) courses based on English proficiency level. The goal for all English Learners is to develop the language skills necessary to actively participate in all classes. We offer daily after school tutorial in room 175. Please contact JoAnne Zuniga-Kaplansky at 637-5831 ext. 167 for more information regarding tutoring and parent DELAC meetings.

Library

The library is open every school day, providing students a quiet place to study, do homework, or pursue their own research. Also houses a computer lab for student use.

Migrant Education

The Migrant Education Program provides services to high school students as well as our Out of School Youth. These services provide our migrant youth information, guidance, and education affording them an opportunity to make better decisions and/or choices regarding their future.

Transition Partnership Program & Workability 1

The Transition Partnership Program (TPP) was designed to build partnerships between local education agencies (LEAs) and the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) for the purposes of successfully transitioning student­-DOR consumers into meaningful employment and/or secondary education.

The mission of WorkAbility I is to promote the involvement of key stakeholders including students, families, educators, employers and other agencies in planning and implementing an array of services that will culminate in successful student transition to employment, lifelong learning and quality of life
